In the Solitude of Cotton Fields

directed by Gordon Anderson

In life you don't get what you're worth, you get what you negotiate. Two strangers meet, in a place they shouldn't, at this dangerous time of night. The first speaks unexpectedly: "Tell me what you want and I'll get you it". The other replies: "Tell me what you've got and I'll tell you what I want". What follows is a thrilling cat-and-mouse game of desire and rejection, power and humiliation as the two men negotiate a deal that will never be struck.

Koltès' mesmerising play for two actors was premiered in France in 1987 and immediately hailed as a contemporary masterpiece, playing successfully throughout Europe ever since.
