The company produces the most innovative scripts from abroad, often commissioning its own translations and creating work collaboratively with artists from the UK and overseas.
Rehearsals are underway for our UK tour of WINTER SOLSTICE by Roland Schimmelpfennig. Our co-production with The Orange Tree Theatre is directed by ATC Associate Director Alice Malin and runs 8 Feb - 26 March.

Living with the Lights on has been a total hit in Europe, with sell-out international dates at the Espoo Theatre in Helsinki and the Lliure Theatre in Barcelona, where it received nightly standing ovations. Amid the dramatic political events in Barcelona, audiences filled the theatre, wept and laughed with Mark — and filled social media with their reflections and admiration.
If you haven’t caught Living with the Lights On in the UK, you still have three chances – this week at Warwick Arts Centre, and next week at Crucible Theatre, Sheffield and Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough
Then its back to Europe and Barcelona this time, from 26 - 29 October!
The ATC team are all over in Dublin this week, getting ready to open the Dublin Theatre Festival with our critically acclaimed production of The Suppliant Women. Previews Wednesday 27 September and runs until Sunday 1 October. If you can't make it to Dublin then catch it at the Young Vic in November, though tickets are selling fast so make sure you don't miss out!
Living with the Lights on had a cracking opening show at HighTide Festival last week, catch it from today at Tobacco Factory Theatres, Bristol till Friday 22nd Sept. Then if you missed it in London it will be on for one night at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond this Sunday 24 Sept.
We will work with young women from the Hong Kong Baptist University and members of the local community to bring this epic play to the festival.
So pleased to announce we will be co-producing The Brothers Size with the Young Vic at the start of next year, the production is in celebration of ATC's 40th year and will form part of David Lan's final season.
This now iconic play by Tarell Alvin McCraney, will be directed by ATC’s former Artistic Director Bijan Shebani.

The Suppliant Women will open the Dublin Theatre Festival this autumn and you can be part of it! We are recruiting a volunteer community cast of men and women, including a chorus of young local women, aged 16-25 to take on this bold production
This passionate reimagining of an ancient Greek play in response to an urgent contemporary issue. In Aeschylus’ original text fifty women flee across the Mediterranean to escape forced marriages. They appeal for protection and asylum in Greece, placing their fates in the hands of its citizens. It is one of the oldest surviving plays in existence and a story for our time.
This is your chance to be part of the voice of Dublin which will be heard on stage telling a 2,500 year old story that resonates for Europe today.

We are extremly pleased to announce that we will be reviving The Suppliant Women as the opening show of this year's Dublin Theatre Festival. Honoured to be part of the festival, and excited to work with the people of Dublin on this exhilarating show.
Delighted to welcome Alice Malin, who joins us as Associate Director. Our Associate scheme has been running since 2012 and Alice is the third emerging director to benefit from this 18-month training residency.
Alice, who takes up post in June, was selected from nearly 150 applicants. Her experience includes director credits at a range of small-scale venues and assistant directing with Terry Hands, Adrian Noble and Dominic Dromgoole at companies including Chichester Festival Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Clwyd Theatr Cymru.
Ramin Gray will joining a panel of performance practitioners, academics and policy makers who work in and between British and European stages, to consider the opportunities and responsibilities of theatre in a post-Brexit society, and ask how we can continue to foster international relationships. This symposium will explore what Brexit means for the theatre industry at home and abroad. As the UK enters unchartered territory, this event aims to contribute creatively and productively to conversations about the relationship between Britain and Europe, theatre and society.

The post is an opportunity to make the move from ‘assistant’ to ‘associate’ through embedding in one of the UK’s leading contemporary theatre producers.

What an exciting year we have ahead of us, kick starting with our new production Winter Solstice, in co-production with the Orange Tree Theatre. The productions responds to the resurgence of the far-right in some European countries and coincides with the inauguration of President Donald J Trump. Previews start on Thursday 12 Jan and the production runs until Saturday 11 Feb.
Then for our Northern supporters we have The Suppliant Women, taking place at the Royal Exchange Theatre, from 10 March - 1 April. As we have previously done in Edinburgh, Belfast and Newcastle we will be working with people from across the city to put local communities at the heart of the story. This weekend we are running the first workshops in Manchester to get the ball rolling.
Not too shabby for early Jan, watch this space for more information on other projects and news on Living with the Lights on.
So much for winding down for the end of the year, at ATC we are still full steam ahead, after a great week at the Bike Shed Theatre in Exeter, Living with the Lights on opens at the Young Vic on Wed 7 Dec and plays until Fri 23 Dec. Ramin Gray, Hofesh Shechter and Simon Stephens are planning a new production in 2015 that seeks to combine dance and text. Seventeen is an experiment in form and content that will explore the inevitable decay of all living things.
We are looking for brave and engaged performers who feel equally at home expressing themselves physically and verbally. The show might involve nudity and delivering written text.
We will be meeting performers between December 11 and 20, 2013 in London.
