Trainee Associate Director
This is a fantastic opportunity for an emerging director to be embedded within a non-building-based theatre company.
The focus of the role is on supporting the development and creation of ATC’s work on tour in the UK and internationally.
Actors Touring Company makes international, contemporary theatre that travels. We create shows with a global perspective: activating and entertaining the audience whilst asking questions of the world around us. Placing the actor at the heart of our work, and employing a lean aesthetic which promotes environmental sustainability, we have toured the UK and internationally since we were founded in 1978, reaching audiences far and wide.
Current and recent productions include The Suppliant Women (Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester, March 2017, Young Vic November 2017); Winter Solstice (just completed a sell-out run at the Orange Tree Theatre, touring Spring 2018) and Living with the Lights On (sell-out run at the Young Vic in 2016, touring Autumn 2017).
The Trainee Associate Director scheme will provide hands-on experience of the demands of a touring theatre company, with the opportunity to input into the development of the artistic programme as well as its practical delivery.
The scheme will to take you from Assistant Director to Associate Director; and equip you for a greater range of future professional opportunities.
Running for a fixed term of 18 months (with the potential for unpaid leave to explore your own projects), the scheme will allow the trainee to experience a full cycle of development and touring.
